Partials and Dentures in Fort Myers, FL
Missing teeth don’t have to bring you down any more. At Fort Myers Dental Arts, we offer many great options for tooth replacement for our patients. There are great advantages to getting partials and dentures in Fort Myers, FL, as they look and feel much better these days than before, thanks to great technological strides that have been made in the industry. Partials and dentures also do not require any invasive procedural or surgical work to be constructed and fitted.
There are two types of dentures that are available for tooth replacement—complete dentures and partial dentures.
Complete dentures are used when a patient has lost all of his or her teeth. Complete dentures are fully removable prosthetic appliances that are worn to replace a full set of teeth. They are designed to look just like real teeth and are built onto a foundation that resembles natural gums.
After losing or removing all of your teeth, your gums need time to heal. As your gums heal, their shape and size will shift over the course of two to three months. Your complete dentures will be ready to wear once you have completely healed.
During this healing period, you will come in for a few visits where your dentist will check the progress of your healing as well as make impressions of your gums in order to craft the most personalized and comfortable set of dentures. Your permanent set of complete dentures will be cast once the perfect fit has been achieved.
In the meantime, immediate dentures can be crafted for immediate wear. However, these will likely become uncomfortable and unwearable once your gums have healed.
For our patients who are missing some, but not all teeth, partial dentures are for you. These can be permanently fixed into place in your mouth, or removable like complete dentures. Partial dentures require the support of remaining natural teeth or even dental implants.
If your missing teeth are inconsecutive, it’s no problem. A single partial dentures appliance can replace various missing teeth that are not adjacent to one another.
