Invisalign® in Fort Myers
If you have a misalignment in your teeth, it’s probably not hard to live with. You can still eat and speak normally, and one or two mildly crooked teeth won’t get in the way of your daily activities. However, having a smile with straight teeth is not only more attractive, but it can be beneficial for your oral health as well. At Fort Myers Dental Arts, we are proud to offer the Invisalign® treatment in Fort Myers. Visit our dentistry near you to learn more about this orthodontic procedure.
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is an orthodontic (teeth straightening) procedure that utilizes a system of clear aligners to change the position of teeth. While traditional metal braces work by applying pressure to the teeth via a system of brackets and wires, Invisalign aligners do this through a system of custom-made, carefully planned aligners.
Benefits of Invisalign
The Invisalign procedure in Fort Myers is preferred by many patients because it generally doesn’t get in your way. The aligners are made out of a clear plastic material, so they appear almost invisible to others and certainly are not as cumbersome as metal braces. Additionally, Invisalign aligners are removable. They are much easier to maintain than metal braces, which need to be cleaned carefully around the wires. Because the aligners are removable, you’ll still be able to enjoy all the foods you usually do without the worry of getting something caught in your braces.
Procedure
The procedure to have the Invisalign treatment done is fairly simple. During your initial consultation, your dentist will discuss your goals with you, take careful measurements of your mouth, and create a treatment plan. The treatment plan will map out the movement of the teeth and design the aligners to fit the plan. You can even view a preview of the end result. The aligners will be created according to the treatment plan, and you will need to wear them in the order prescribed to complete the treatment. Aligners must be worn for at least 20 hours a day for successful treatment, and you will need to visit our office at Fort Myers Dental Arts every few weeks for check-ups. Soon, you’ll have a straighter, more beautiful smile.
